No! It's not like the van trips at all! We can order EXACTLY the number we need. We have been printing 1000, because the cost for 800 is essentially the same as 1000. (I think there was a $30 difference or something) But the watershed number is 1000 copies. I'm talking Amprint numbers here, because I don't know what they are for the new printer. (I have to believe the difference would be similar or better) But for each addtitional copy over1,000 (and it didn't matter whether you printed 1010 0r 1,900) we paid about $1 per copy. There was another break point around 2,500 copies, where the marginal issues were a little less... If I remember, about $.80 each. That's why I sent the figures I did 2 days ago. New members between 800 and 1000 cost us about $2 per year per member (domestic) because it's ONLY postage. Over 1,000 members, since we have to print more magazines, but still no more than we actually need, the cost per member per year (domestic) jumps up, but only to $6. Printers couldn't care less how many sheets of paper they put into the press. (or binder) It's the sset-up that costs all the time/money. That's why the costs are all on the front end.
