Re: [AGA SC] [Fwd: AGA membership drive event]

A little OTHER history that you may have guessed at, is that there is no
love lost between Jeff and Dave G. Although Dave G can be a PITA, for the
most part, he has been pretty supportive of AGA. It was NOT because of Dave
that the idea didn't fly. He relayed it to us, and we did discuss it
seriously.

The problem was/is administration. We decided at the time that we would
MUCH rather be supportive of local organizations, and keep everyone talking
than try to administrate local "chapters". I no real benefit to the AGA to
do this, and I'm not sure it's a huge benefit to the local people either. I
think the potential to make people mad at us is WAY bigger than the
potential to do anything positive.

The other aspect is liability. I have a lot of confidence in our core group
of people. But that's WAY different than having peope we don't know well at
all doing things under the AGA "banner", but completely outside of our
control. It seems like a HUGE can of worms to me.

If they wanted to do some sort of lower cost membership to AGA, where we
sent a group of magazines to one address, I'd have no problem with that.
