Re: [AGA-sc] Jay Luto's offer

Very good points. How about we try some thinner title like
"Staff Photographer".

Every wedding I've been to, there has been an official
photographer and it hasn't seemed to have depressed the
number of other folks with cameras. I don't know if that
carries over to AGA conventions.

If we draw Jay into further involvement, I think it will be
regarding photography. He seems pretty consistent in
feeling that is what he has to offer. I think he's aching
for a way to make more of a mark in the world as a
photographer. He might be naive in thinking that our
consecrating his AGA activity with a title will help him
make a mark. It's always the doing that really matters. And
a real job would probably do more and be better training.
Still the willingness and support is real.

What if we ask him if he would consider taking on the task
you described -- something like: "We have never had a Staff
Photographer before. While we generally are not lacking for
convention photos, it's always good to have more. A key job
that goes along with that is collecting, editing, deciding
which to use, and laying out a gallery for them. Erik and
Karen, despite their many other AGA tasks, have undertaken
this effort in the past. We would welcome your involvement
(assistance) in this area."

Otoh, if he's recording things visually, we could call him
Assistant Historian? ;-)

Anyway, there's some real support in Jay and it would be
good to bring him in further. But we don't call anyone
"offical" anything.
