I would say, either sit tight, or else e-mail them again asking for
clarification.  I DON'T think we should just hand over $400 without any
further discussion.  If they are pretty sure there _were_ 49 books, we
should probably give it to them.  But it sounds like you made it clear that
we would straighten it out once they were clear on what had happened.  They
haven't done that yet.
