While the AGA applauds Tom's new venture, we cannot supply free copies of
TAG as an advertising tool for him. We are a not-for-profit organization,
and the magazine has real paper, print and postage expenses that need to be
covered (to say nothing of the volunteer hours that go into the magazine) if
we are to continue to bring our members a high quality, full color magazine.
We do always offer back issues for sale to our members through the AGA book
store (www.aquatic-gardeners.org). If you missed one of Tom's articles (I
think we've published 2 or 3 in the last few years) feel free to order one
there. If you are not yet a member, please join and read what many experts
from around the world have to teach! There are sample articles on our web
site, augmented by extra photos that we haven't had room for in the
magazine.

I too am faced with a problem as we are a not-for-profit as well and his
commercial post without being a sponsor has caused the sponsors to bombard
me with emails. I'm discussing this with Tom.
I know what you mean about Tom's writing abilities. :-) Typically, I can
only make out about 50% of what he has to say.
If I'm in town on the 25th, I would be delighted to catch up over dinner
again. I travel a lot for work now-a-days. I'll let you know as the date
gets closer.

On a personal note, if anyone had ANY IDEA how much work it is to edit
one
of Tom's articles so that it is readable... Tom knows a lot about
plants,
and has certainly helped MANY people do better with their tanks over the
last few years. But he's a pitifully poor writer. Obviously, I have no
intention of posting that on the forum, but I think it was way out of
bounds
for Tom to send people to AGA for freebies to advertise his new project.
He
knows how far from his original text the final TAG articles are.
On a different note, I (and Scott Hieber) will be coming through Miami
on
the way to Brazil again on Jan 25th. I don't know know how hard it is
for
you to get to the aiport, but we have have a few hours to kill between
flights. It would be fun to meet for dinner again... haven't seen you
in
a
long time!
