I didn't reply to this post before, because I didn't really know what to 
think about it and wanted to wait until other people had a chance to speak.

BUT

I have a spy report from DFWAPC. Ricky sez *he* approached Tom Barr 
about getting a discount for DFWAPC members and after they dickered back 
and forth awhile, and Tom agreed, Tom started offering other clubs (like 
AGA, I presume) the same deal. Ricky laughed it off but I could tell he 
was a little peeved that Tom *stole* his idea/initiative. Plus, it 
rather dilutes the "special discount" pool when you offer it to everyone.

Tom is offering DFWAPC members a discount on membership, only $8.95 
rather than $12.95.
