Hmm, I went back in the archives of this list, and it seems that the 
Marine Memorial had room rates of $110, $25-31 per day for parking, and 
that was for particularly inconvenient dates in January or February or 
around holidays, not during weekends preferable for the convention. 
Further, I did not find any actual details posted on ballroom rental 
rates or banquet costs, so I'm not sure how that compares.

I found something else while browsing the archives of this list.  I posted 
a time schedule back in March, that a preliminary bid was due October 1st. 
Now Micheal was pretty upset when I posted on another list that the AGA 
needed to see some progress in securing the hotel contract, and that we 
weren't going to sit around and wait for November FIRST to come around 
this time.  Something about it "not being our job to make the AGA feel 
good".

I have not been out of line in requesting some form of progress report 
this month.  I beleive we will be OK with that November 18th final 
deadline you most recently alluded to (though he said "November 10" in an 
earlier e-mail), but we will keep it at November 18th, not let it keep 
sliding back further.

For some reason the website still says "bids are due 9 months before the 
convention", but I beleive this is no longer current policy.  We need to 
fix this.
