I was disappointed but not surprised to see how little they sent -- well, cynics, like pessimists, are happy people because our expectations are so often met ;-) . Anyway, with the previous two budgets, I knew a lot more about what went into them. However, that was because I helped prepare the last two; in this case, I was not directly involved. I've wanted to at least put together another spreadsheet and try some what-ifs with attendance numbers, banquet ratios, fees . . . I can't get to it until this weekend but even then it won't be much good without the hotel contract terms since they are directly related. I haven't seen a contract and last I heard no one else on the BoD had either. Some of what is missing compared to a full fledged proposal is info about the club, which they might think we already know. Jim said yesterday (?) he didn't have staffing nailed down yet, so I expect the staffing piece to be forthcoming -- after a year, they don't have staffing nailed down, hmmmmm. And also forthcoming, hopefully, will be the hotel contract offer. Btw, I hope they didn't sign a cotnract because we haven't accepted a proposal ;-) But I wonder if they'll follow the Guidelines and send much more than that. Cursory comments: Looks like their planning on an all-at-once silent auction rather than an over-the-weekend silent auction. Do they have enough time to warrant the estimated revenues? I'd want more time so we could move more items. I think the raffle revenue estimate is dreamy at 5 bills -- I'd cut it in half to be realistic or maybe even farther to be conservative for budget purposes. Unless they've got something better than an aquarium set-up to raffle off -- weekend in Hawaii? Winter in Bonito? Home theater system with flat panel HDTV? sh --- Erik Olson <erik@thekrib.com> wrote: > Awfully quiet here.
