Re: [AGA-sc] opinions on speakers for convention?

Hmm... we'd be rejecting not only every one of Jim's speaker ideas, but
essentially every one of his suggested TOPICS (except for photography,
which is not really one of the inventive ones).

Well, mosses are simply not a headliner. And Jay is strictly an amateur photog
-- there are folks for whom it's part of their career.

Definitely like the idea of asking Jeff for photo workshop -- he'll
probably be coming anyway (perhaps hawking his book).

-- Ahhh, synergy ;-)

If Dave Wilson is a good headliner, wouldn't he be no more expensive as
Ole or Troels? Hey, Australia's a little closer to the West Coast than
the East Coast, so it might be cheaper this year... same with east Asian
flights. :)

-- If we aren't doing a Big TAG this year, then I wouldn't mind doing a few
expensive speakers. It could mean AGA2K6 doesn't make enough money to generate
a net revenue for SF or even AGA but that shouldn't bother them and need not
bother us. I still want the convention overall to be organized businesslike but
this aspect could be a write off. We might even earmark a percentage of funds
each year as speaker funds.
