Well, mosses are simply not a headliner.
I agree. Mosses are sort of like shrimp... A lot of interest, but they are minor players in the whole scheme of planted aquarium subjects. Not necessarily a big-draw topic.
-- If we aren't doing a Big TAG this year, then I wouldn't mind doing a few expensive speakers. It could mean AGA2K6 doesn't make enough money to generate a net revenue for SF or even AGA but that shouldn't bother them and need not bother us. I still want the convention overall to be organized businesslike but this aspect could be a write off. We might even earmark a percentage of funds each year as speaker funds.<
I'm still not entirely sold on the single "big TAG" concept. I look at my neatly filed row of TAG's,, and frankly, I would not be happy with one lagre format mag here and there that didn't fit with the rest. But that's a subject for a different discussion.
I wouldn't have any problem with AGA deciding that on an annual basis (when we can clearly afford it) we would fully subsizize one speaker for the convention on top of the "convention budget" speakers. If the convention brought in more because of a fancier line-up of speakrs, so much the better. But I wouldn't care if it contributed to the bottom line at all. I think it would be one of the best possible uses of our resources.
