Can't work in workships: I realize the agenda stuff shouldhave been settled
before we tried to finish the hotel deal -- not while you are tyring to hammer
down the hotel signature on a deal. I realize that. I'm jsut looking for
something to draw more than just the 20 or so die-hards, come-no-matter-what
folks.
RE Open Mic Night: If we do this it should be swift, like removing bandage
tape. The show is tough enough when it's rehearsed and planned. Let's put this
at the end of Friday night and if no one signs up to talk, then we can ignore
it or folks can leave if they don'twant to stay for the few that do sign up.
Definitely get folks to sign up well in advance and tell them they are limited
to say 1 or 2 minutes time.
Number of talks: don't forget Banq talk, that makes f (or 6 if we do Friday
night).
Hospitality Suite or not so sweet:No way a hotel is going to allow food & bev
in the vendor room onthe man banquet floor unless it's their food and bev. We
might get a way with it in room upstairs or off in a corner. In Virginia, we
just ignored the hotel, iirc, but we weren't on the main floor.
The Jack Amano party was in someone's room upstairs.

Just a couple of quick comments, First we only have
two rooms, one of which is the vendor room. Neither of
these rooms is large enough for more than one talk so
I don't see how we can do more than two simaltaneous
workshops.
Second, Four speakers may be OK but four talks is not.
I would be pretty disappointed if I spent the better
part of $1000 to fly to California to hear four talks.
I also think we need a talk on Fri night.
I really am not sure people want to hear a few local
clubs come up and say something about their club in a
"What did I do on my 3rd grade summer vacation" style.
Third , we have still not figured out where and what
they are planning for their hospitality room socialize
thing on ri. We had discussed doint it in the vendor
room but we have not addressed the issues of cost of
hotel provided food and beverage.
I still need direction on this b4 I can finish the
agreement with the Hotel.
