The original message sent to you was returned, so I'm sending
this to different email addresses. Hopefully you will also receive a copy of our
President's invitation to join us at our Annual Symposium in Florida this
July.
Attached is a summary of our schedule. Some of our planned tours and talks
would be right up your alley, inicluding a visit to Florida Aquatic Nurseries
(in Ft Lauderdale), the airboat ride in the Everglades, the talk on aquatic
plant tissue culture, the visit to Agristarts (large tissue culture grower), and
the trip to Silver Springs (filled with all sorts of aquatic plants (above and
below the water.)
Depending upon what you decide to do and how soon you make the decisions,
we can probably save you a considerable amount of money by adding your meeting
room needs onto our existing arrangements with the hotel(s). In addition we
would want to print enough extra Registration Brochures to send to all your
members. However these are things that will need to be worked out fairly
soon, since they will impact the numbers I have given for hotel rooms, food,
transportations, etc.
You might also be able to arrange some side tours to other places of
interest, since Florida is home to many places of interest to the tropical fish
and aquarium trade.
The year that SARS hit we planned our Symposium for Toronto. We had to
postpone it for a year, but still needed to have our annual meetings. So we
partnered with another conference in Atlanta and were delighted with
the result. We had a smaller turnout, but it was a very successful event,
without much work or expense. I look forward to working with you and hope
we can help provide a venue for your meeting.
