Re: [AGA-sc] Response from KL!

I would NOT want to bump Dave Wilson for Professor Tan... I think Dave has a much wider appeal.

I was only thinking of Professor Tan as a second "big" speaker, if AGA wants to use some of its surplus that way, in keeping with our mission statement to educate people.

I am with Scott on this. Although I would still be
interested in hearing about terrestrial mosses as well
I am not sure that the bulk of our attendees will.
Remember, this will likely be a talk about the
phyologeny, habitat, etc of mainly terrestrial mosses.

I am not in favor of exceeding the $1800 budget. If we
can't stay under budget I think we need to push either
him or Dave back to 2007.

Either way this is still all good since we now have
another potential AGA speaker for this year or next.

Regards,
Larry

This is a bit comforting and a bit unsettling. Yes,
he speaks English and can give presentations.
However, Oy! It's a lot of money for mosses and
mostly terrestrial at that. And it's a lot of money
added on top of Wilson.

Do we *want* to ask him? He's definitely a great "B"
side of the record.

Otoh, SF has some ardent moss fans but otoh, SF
isn't putting up dime one for this event. We have
$1800 in the budget for speaker travel. Do we think
this will be within budget? Are we getting a major
draw for the money?
