Larry got us the Hospitality room on 11/9! So let's include on the web
page a Thursday night get-together, even if we have to by some food and
sodas. Lots of folks whine about not being included in the clique (what
clique?) but anyway, this is a way to increase socialization and improve
roomnights. Something like --"We know many folks will arrive days early
to add some SF site-seeing time to their convention trip. So we're
having a get-together Thursday evening. . . "
Also considering they are planning to start the field trip art some
gawd-awful early hour! :-) Everyone who is not local, and many that are,
will be staying over Thursday. But I think that if they're going to
drink our sodas and munch on our chips, then they need to help with
last-minute chores. Bagging, stapling, whatever.
Avoiding Cheryl burnout -- CR has all of TAG, membership, other layout
stuff like pamphlets (not necessarily her job but she seems to end up
involved anyway), AGA2K6 registration -- a TAG will be in production
when the convention regs will be going into it's busiest period. Since
I am going to be recording all the transactions anyway, maybe I should
take the registration off CR's hands -- can the web page auto-check that
regs are members?
Don't forget the sales table. That was great, but we need to find
someone local to take over. We could pay a couple of spouses or something.
Registration is only hard when you make it hard. Like forgetting to log
everyone's address and then panicking when GG asks you for them, and
trying to fix it without letting GG know you screwed up, and then
ignoring 50% of the fixes, which took a certain someone an entire day to
make, and then that certain someone had to apologize repeatedly for
wrong name tags. Whew. I guess I'm still not over THAT! sorry...
Avoiding Erik burnout -- I'm at a loss here.
Maybe someone local has some large teenagers to help cart things around
and help Erik set up and tear down. I have a better handle on the web
stuff now, so I can help there.
Tshirts -- Design and buy new ones and get Barb or Ann to sell at
convention along with DVDs at the special (no-shipping) convention price?
Funny you should mention that. Barbara works for Bennigans, and might
could get us some blank wholesale t-shirts at a very nice price. I was
going to see about having the logo printed on some black shirts (Gary
Bagnall wants black). But I suspect that our logo has WAY too many
colors. Plus, I'm not sure what Larry's going to think about everyone
wearing his face. :-) A new t-shirt design would be great. Want me to
ask Ricky? (If we ask Ricky, he'll tell me that he doesn't want to put
the lace plant in it.)
