It's in Euros because our registrar, Gandi (www.gandi.net), is housed in 
France.  Back in 1998 when I first registered the domains (or maybe a year 
later), I read up on good discount registrars, and the 12 Euro was Waaaaay 
better than the $50 US being charged by Verisign for a year's 
registration.  They have been great since then.
