What are the speaker perks? two roomnights, convention reg, Banq, that's it. So a joint presentation couldonly mean that AGA pay's Luis's hotel room, buys him a banq and let's him in the convention for free. Travel wouldn't be an AGA except for a keynote or special speaker. Luis was a bit rough as a presenter, iirc. If he just plays Carol Merril to Ricky's Monty Hall, I suppose that could work as a presentation. But basically, this would just be a set of comps. And, of course, it raises the question, of course, of who gets what and who doesn't. Lots of deserving folks out there and who's to decide one person's lot is worse than another's. Otoh, Luis helped a lot on the Houston affair, so bit of a stretch but arguably that could be a general basis for the comps. However, we've told the SFBAAPS that the workers on the current convention don't get comps. sh ----- Original Message ---- From: Cheryl Rogers <cheryl@wilstream.com> To: AGA Board <aga-sc@thekrib.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 1, 2006 1:37:35 PM Subject: [AGA-sc] Luis . . . Having heard this story, naturally I called Ricky next. He and Ben want to make sure Luis gets to AGA. Ben is going to sell plants to raise money for airfare. Ricky is willing to give up his free registration and whatever other perks go with being a speaker. He will pay for himself when he gets back from Japan. He will even work it out with Luis so that their talk is a joint presentation, with Ricky showing slides and Luis doing the actual aquascaping or something like that. I wanted to bounce this idea off y'all first. What do you think?
