If it were just Dave being a jerk, that'd be OK. How many times have I told Dave to piss off in the last 8 years? It's more like this: I haven't contacted any of the vendors for donation to the auction, I haven't talked to any of the people you've been forwarding to me about jobs, haven't gotten the graphics done for the aquascaping contest (or found someone to do them), haven't even thought of getting judges for same, haven't bugged anyone about promoting same, which is in all likelihood going to be a pathetic turnout this year. In the case of the aquascaping contest, I have just lost interest. I probably would have bailed on it entirely if I hadn't been committed by the TFH ad. Convention is different; I'm sort of looking forward to that as an event. But I'm in over my head, even with Larry taking the hotel, and Karen securing the big speakers. I have already accepted that Kathy and I will not be taking vacation to Monterey the day before the field trip, because I will need to be onhand fighting fires at the hotel and with SFBAAPS. I'm starting to think I actually won't be able to do what I enjoy doing -- running A/V and taping talks -- because I'll be running around doing Jim's job at the actual event. I may have to farm out my stuff to LaFlamme. Sure, that's OK at work as one becomes more senior management, but this is my freakin' hobby. What it boils down to is that I need to scale back my commitment. I want to help, but I can't be responsible for the health of the organization. And as president, that's my job. Ergo, I must quit that particular job. I don't know what will happen. But it has to change for me. - Erik On Sun, 13 Aug 2006, Cheryl Rogers wrote: > Erik, I understand your feelings.
