Because before you know it, you will end up with stew instead of water.  The 
more stuff you toss in, the higher the level of dissolved ionic solids , and 
hence conductivity.  Fish respond to high conductivity to a certain degree 
like they do to hardness.

Do you know what is actually in these products?  Are you sure of what you're 
doing?
