Continuing on from "the marble won't do" school, would granite? From what I can remember of malt whisky;-O, garnite IS safe, would anybody be able to help with thicknesses? If you don't know how thick, maybe you might know the pressure in an aquarium measuring 175x50x60(lxwxd) and then the stonemason (or my lfs) could probably help. I can get granite at wholesale prices, polished and cut to size, practically any colour, I would presume the particle size wouldn't cause any probs. I was thinking that black-specked granite on the back wall would be pretty impressive. I hope that I'll be able (eventually) to let you all see the results:-) Thanks for being able to bounce these ideas around.
