I have collected wild Rams from two different sites. One site south of the Orinoco was from a stream. The Rams here were large and very brightly colored. The spikes on the dorsal were long and extended. The other site was north of the Orinoco and was a man-made "ditch". It was shallow and not connected to any other water. The Rams here, and there were lots of them, were small and not as brightly colored with short extensions on the dorsal. I think the differences were probably due to environment rather than "race".
