I've had species specific wipeouts before. A local pet shop owner told me he gets
an angelfish disease in his system maybe every other year. It only kills angels,
and will wipe any new fish added to the system unless he simply doesn't buy
angels from anyone  for 2-3 weeks.
You might want to think on those lines, and in the meantime, beware of an
aggressive tankmate claiming the bottom.
