Hi, I have one of the apparently many fish travelling under the "sp galaxy" banner. I have my first fry as of yesterday, which is pleasant. I was lucky enough to watch the actual spawning, and made use of the night-light trick Mike Wise mentioned in one of his posts this morning to help the female in her guarding. What I have found interesting is the female. I've had the fish for a couple of months, and the female has been glowing an unrelenting lemon yellow since the first week. The spawning 11 days ago was their first, as they are in a 15 gallon designed for photos, and there is nowhere they could have put eggs without me seeing them. And, no, I didn't get photos... I've had nannochromis females torture the breeder in me by appearing set to spawn for weeks without doing anything. But I've never had an apisto lock into breeding colour for 2 months without spawning. The pair courted constantly, and seemed to get along famously. They are also intensely territorial with both their pencil fish dithers and the norberti in the next tank. Has anyone else seen similar Apisto female behavior/long term colour? -Gary ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the apistogramma mailing list, apisto@listbox.com.
