Hello all, on further inspection of my new cacatuoides, I'm wondering if I don't have a sneaker male or two. One fish in particular, though small (<1"), is showing elongated pectoral fins and elongation in the 2-4 dorsal spines; it does not have the ocelli in the caudal, however it is also not showing any yellow in its ventral region. This potential sneaker is distinctly different in markings and behavior from the fish that I am using as a "female diagnostic" fish, and is actively chased by the larger "definitely male" fish. If it turns out I've got a 3:2 or 4:1 M/F ratio, I will obviously need to remove the excess males. Which sex is more aggressive in this species? Should I be concerned for the safety of any of these fish until I can move them, i.e., will the supernumerary males beat the heck out of each other or the (possibly) solo female before I can set up my spare 20 gal as an escape tank? A different note: are we having list problems or is my ISP simply slow? There's been a response to my question of yesterday, but I have not received a copy of my original message yet! This has been happening on and off in my inbox for a while, but I thought I'd see if anyone else is experiencing this delay. Thanks, Sarah LeGates __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
