Dan, I would check your water.It might be to soft to keep inverts alive. I kept Amano shrimps in a flourite setup for years and they are doing just fine.They shed their shells and need calcium and other minerals to produce the new shell.The plant list is probably a good place to find some better answers to your question.i do have problems keeping Ghost shrimp alive in my tanks though,they taste to good:).
