Hi Brian there is a black sand that you can buy from sanitation supply
stores. It is used for ciggarette  butt garbadge cans. I buy it in 50 pound
bags. Look around in your industrial section of your phone book. If you only
need a little the saltwater hobby has black sand that you can buy
commercialy in the trade. If you have a quary in your area they may lead you
to some answers as well. Good luck.
