If the albino gene is closely tied to another bad trait (aka blindness) then that gene carrying fish might never reach adulthood. Thus further increases the odds against a successfull albino. Also, if albinism is related to the sex gene, then you would really have a problem. If only males could successfully carry the gene, then albinism would be impossible. I am hoping to do some research on some of this at some point in my future.
