Checkerboards are pretty easy to keep, I have a group of 3 Males and 2
females.   Now the trick to these guys is if they're small buy a bunch
of them.   I originally thought i had 1 male and 4 females. 

I keep mine in a 20 long tank, pH of 6.0 and hardness < 20ppm.
Temperature in there is around 80F.    Feed lots of live foods, varied
diet and they'll be happy.   I presently have mine mixed with some Blue
Danios and they are out in the open alot.   

Either way good luck, they are a very nice fish, my male is so awesome ,
he's going to the ACA this summer, extensions on the lyre tail are over
an inch long.    Will make a great show fish.
