The only Scarlet species I am aware of is the Badis badis burmanicus. It is a little larger than the regular Badis badis. I haven't kept them for a few years, but I currently have B. badis. Pretty much neutral water, temp in upper 70's to low 80's. Likes to spawn in a small cave or hidden area. Mine actually laid in the clip that I was using to hold cucumbers for my pleco. The male will guard the eggs until they hatch, then they are on their own. I never had any luck trying to let nature take it's course and the only way I got fry was to pull the eggs and raise artificially. I keep 1 male to 3 females. After I pull the eggs, he will immediately try to spawn with another female. HTH and good luck, they are lovely fish. Ken P.S. The badis is classified as a perch. According to what I've read, it used to be considered a cichlid but was given it's own family (Badidae) in the Perciformes order.
