Re: Apisto Predators

Mike Wise brought up the point on Apistos "recognizing" Leaf Fish as a
"predator". Hmm...that one had me thinking a while. Since then I've recalled
an article I recently read concerning the reintroduction of wolves to
Yellowstone Park.

The Moose and Elk registered the most interesting response during their
movements through the area. The first season wolves were introduced proved
an effective means of thinning out the herds as the prey were caught off-
guard. Moose meat could be had by wolves at their leisure.

As quickly as the second season of exposure, kill ratios for the packs had
dropped down to a more normal 1 out of 5 or 6 odds.

If the Leaf Fish is a commonly- associated predator, and doesn't have an
overwhelming appetite, it just _might_ be worthwhile to consider the
possibilities.

William asks why it _has_ to be a Cichlid. Actually, I never made the
distinction. And I've already mentioned that the Pikes were first up on the
"list" only by timing...
