I have heard roughly the same as Dave. I have a trio of wild
A. borellii "Opal" and the male has the red on the cheeks but
not as much as some bred specimens from East Europe that I've
seen. So it is a trait that wild borelliis have (perhaps a
certain location?) that has been "improved" upon by German
breeders.
