Dennis,

If the tank is large enough, I'd suggest adding a "target" fish. These are
fish that live at the same level of the tank as your Rams. The Rams will
consider it a threat to their breeding territory. The target fish must be
tough enough to absorb attacks by your male Ram, yet be gentle enough not to
damage your pair. Target fish often strengthen the bond of a pair. For Rams
I'd suggest a larger apisto species female like A. macmasteri or A.
steindachneri, another Ram, or a single Laetacara dorsigera.
