Join the local aquarium society ( http://mn-aquarium.org ) and you'll hook 
up with other fishkeepers -- a few of us are into dwarf cichlids.  We 
organize group purchases to have rare species and live food flown 
in.  We've even taken weekend trips to other cities to visit the "good" pet 
stores and come back with interesting species.

I'm a firm believer in the power of a local club.
