SPAM RE: advertising discussion is over..

Will both of you guys settle down? This is getting infantile. "You can't quit the list because I'M going to quit the list first."

Both of you have contributed to the list in the past to help others. Let's focus on that positive point and keep the tradition going. Mike C.'s reply may have pushed the list etiquette envelope, but I don't perceive his intent was an evil plot to subvert the list. In the future, replies such as his should be word "... contact me off list if you can't find a source." or something along that line.

Frankly, I don't to much of a problem if hobbyists on this list make it known that they have products available for sale as I would rather give my business to someone on the list, and that would include both Mike's, than someone I don't know at all. I would complain if the poster were simply a lurker spamming us with ads whenever he or she smelled a business opportunity. But that has not been the case. Plus, any such list member would stand out as a sore thumb since he or she would not have contributed in any meaningful manner. Such folks would likely end up chasing away business since folks would resent that business approach. That's the power of a market driven economy, we don't have to give our business to folks we don't want to.

But I don't care either way as I don't have a product to sell and I'm not easily offended. So if advertising in any way, shape or form is forbidden, so be it. But PLEASE, let's not get our knickers all ties up in knots over relatively a meaningless topic. I know you've had a bad experience along this line several years ago, Mike J., but I thought that issue got out of hand too (and I'm not taking sides).
