Re: Dwarf Cichlid question



As others have eluded, you might have better luck with West African dwarf
chichlids instead of apistos.  Anomolachromis thomasi, Nanachromis sp., and
Pelvicachromis sp. are in that category.  If you could get that CO2 working
good and get the pH down to low 7s, then you might be able to try some South
Americans like curviceps or nannacara and some hardier apistos like
cacatuoides or borellii.  Although I haven't done any breeding personally,
it seems from my reading that the soft, acidic water is better for inducing
spawns, but not necessary for mere survival.  Maybe others can comment on
the validity of that statement.
