Most garden shops sell an assortment of flower pots. They also sell
flowerpot saucers, which you could use to hold the sand. You could simply
then place a flowerpot on top of the saucer with no worry of the sand
seeping into the gravel--assuming the Apistos didn't feel the need to
excavate and spit the sand outside.
