Re: Apistogramma Uaupesi

Coby,

A. uaupesi & A. sp. Sailfin/Segelflossen are very similar. A. uaupesi has a
lower dorsal fin and either no or very indistinct abdominal stripes. A. sp.
Sailfin has a lateral band that is broader than uaupesi's along its anterior
length, a much higher dorsal fin, and a couple of distinct rows of spots below
the lateral band that form abdominal stripes. Römer considers them to be
populations of the same species (A. uaupesi), while Koslowski says they might
me different species. Considering the wide distribution of A.
uaupesi/Cutthroat(Blutkehl)/Sailfin(Segelflossen) either could be possible. I
personally wouldn't cross the two. BTW the only A. uaupesi that should be
called Rotkeil (Red-wedge) are those with red-orange middle parts of the caudal
fin.
