Re: oak leaves
Adam,
I collect only dead ,dried up leaves in the fall.
I boil them for a few minutes to get rid of any dirt ,bacteria before I ad
them to my tanks.I usually collect two large trashbacks full of larger
leaves from an old Oak tree. Those will last me for a year.

This is one of my Oak leave tanks.I currently breed A.trifasciata quite
succesful in this tank.

Hi everyone,
I'm in the middle of setting up a breeding tank, and I was reading through
some of the old threads on using oak leaves as ground cover and a way to
lower pH. The leaves are really starting to come out on the trees here in
Connecticut, and I'm curious about using oak leaves. Does it matter what
time of year you "harvest" leaves? Other than boiling the leaves for 30
minutes to get rid of any nasties is there anything else that needs to be
done?
Thanks and have a great weekend,
Adam
