RE: Ap. jurua

Mike,
what about posting on the web or just in that list corrections about
apisto's misidentification (for whatever reason) in Uwe's book.
It might be also the reason why they are talking about a second volume of
the book to add to the first one and correct some errors.

Francine,

The fish pictured in Uwe's book as A. juruensis is actually A. sp.
Black-chin/Schwarzkinn, a closely related but different species. Warzel
originally used the name A. sp. Juruá for another cacatuoides-like species
from
the upper Juruá around Cruzeiro do Sul, Brazil. It is the same species
labeled
A. sp. Jurua Emerald in Yamazaki's book & A. sp. Goias Redtail by Lucanus
(TFH,
XLVII(4)(#514):10). Since the fish comes from nowhere near the Brazilian
state
of Goiás, and names including 'Juruá' were being confused with A. juruensis,
Koslowski decided it best to change the name to A. sp Cruzeiro in his new
book.
If it doesn't look like a cacatuoides-group species, then I'll need more
information.
