I showed some of the newer apisto forms at the Greater Chicago Cichlid Assn.
Classic last weekend. The fish that got the "oohs & ahs" was the Highfin
"Nijsseni" form from Peru it's a really beautiful fish. It looks like A.
nijsseni with a cacatuoides-like dorsal fin. The female looks nothing like
nijsseni, however, or any other apisto that I can think of. Julio Melgar wrote
me that small quantities should be available soon.

Other pretty fish are:
A. cf. pulchra Uautuma - that can be a very red apisto under favorable
conditions.
A. cf. pulchra New Chingarno - looks like a cross between A. sp. Abacaxis
(Wilhelmi) & A. sp. Miua.
A. cf. sp. Breitbinden "Brevis" - looks like Breitbinden, but has rows of very
large spots in the caudal fin. This is erroneously sold as A. brevis, but the
spiky dorsal fin says it is not.
A. brevis - the real thing.
A. sp. Blaukopf/Gelbflossen (Blue Head / Yellow Fins) - an A. geisleri form
with metallic blue head and yellow fins.

I expect more new forms once collecting season starts in earnest.
