Imagine the reverse scenario, where my Japanese former
research
collaborators were surprised to be getting mail from what
they thought was
some girl named "Eriko".
Hahaha, what a confusion! I can certainly relate to that.
It's getting harder and harder to tell sex by first names.
Not only there are a number of unisex names but a number of
last names are becoming first names. Some parents opt for
foreign names for their babies or even invent new names.
