foods for apistos

Hello everyone,


I am sick of dealing with live black worms... is there a combination of 
other foods or food that would be as good as live black worms for fattening 
fish up and increasing their willingness to spawn?

I have used frozen daphnia, bloodworms, brineshrimp, mysis shrimp, etc
and I have the means to make live brine shrimp(when im not being lazy)
What other kinds of food are good? what do you feed your apistos to get them 
to spawn?(if you arent using blackworms)
