Colin, Did you see the critter come in on the leaves? Or do you think it must have? Maybe it was a slug? Was it still alive? I put some leaves in my A panduro tank last week without doing any sterilizing and now I'm worried. It looks very natural in the tank now and I really like the looks, I'm going to go out and get some more. I wonder what cooked oak leaves smell like. It had been in the tank for a week or so. I'll certainly be boiling all my leaves in future. I must admit I found it hard to believe it when I saw it. > C:)lin > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Yvan Alleau" <yalleau@coas.oregonstate.edu> > Date: Sun, 22 Dec 2002 10:10:06 -0800 > To: <apisto@listbox.com> > Subject: RE: leaf prep(sterilization) > > > Hi Matt, > > I would at least boil them in order to get read of all/most of the bacteria, > > fungi and small bugs (parasite) that they contain. > > It is unlikely however that these critters would survive in an aquatic > > medium if you collected the leaves on land.
