The giveaway for me is in the eye, Nothophthalmus has a red part to the back part of the eye, making it look like they've got a bloody eye. 
I've had both C.regani and C. nothophthalmus and found the former to be much less shy than the latter and this makes me think that you've got Nothophthalmus, even though you don't mention the eye. Both are really neat fish (Oooh I love the dwarf pikes) and even though the males don't have the colours of the females, the subtlety of the colours are fantastic. 
It certainly sounds like you've got a couple of pairs,and with luck they'll fancy each other:). I just hope that my C.menesizi are a pair of pairs.
