I used to isolate the fish (blue ram) in a small plastic tank (± 2 liters) and salt it like you salt french fries. Plastic tank can just float around in main tank. Let him in there 3 hours, with air bubling. Then diluting back to R/O. Salted water go to flush, not back in main tank Not very scientifict for a chemist, I know... Fish always survived at least 12 hours (not that bad for sick rams) After that, I'm quite amused by people telling me how fish are sensitive to osmotic pressure... Don't try it with KMnO4. I did, it's quite deadly (for fish).
