Re: Fluke Tabs

Pete,

I haven't had any need for it in a long time so I'm not absolutely positive, but I seem to recall that it is the same organo-phosphate that is found in Dylox (Masoten, Metrifonate, or Trichlorphon). This is an insecticide that decomposes more rapidly in warm basic water than in cool acid conditions. It's effective against most skin & gill flukes, leeches, & parasitic crustaceans. It's also lethal to shrimp & other crustaceans kept as part of community tanks, so they need to be removed if you want to save them. I don't know if it affects snails, but it can act as a neurotoxin on characins & scaleless fish. Continuous contact with concentrated forms can affect the human nervous system, too, so handle with care.
