Dear Jody, When spawning, Hemichromis spp. will readily uproot plants situated in their breeding territory. They usually dig depressions in the substrate and deposit their larvae in them; but, on occasion, I have also seen them dig around a plant and place their larvae on the exposed roots. Good luck!
