One of the most frustrating and fun things about apistos is they misbehave: frustrating when they eat eggs or spawn, fun when they spawn when you least expect it. if it doesn't work out, be patient. I've had pairs get it right obn the 5th or 6th try. A few precisions might help people answer your questions. What apistos do you have? What are the other fish you have? What kind of filter do you have? personally, I wouldn't remove the pair, although I might pull the male. I also try to leave eggs with the mother, as it's fun to watch the care (mouthing of eggs and wrigglers, herding of fry). At 5 days post-hatching, depending on your temperature, you could still be in the ballpark. gary
