I had a similar problem with wild rams. A white fungus around their fins and
their bodies. Somebody told me, that this fungus is a natural protection
against their predators, I'm not sure if true, but it would be interesting
to verify.

I managed to solve the problem by introducing a product called Fungus cure
for fresh water fish sold mfg by aquarium pharmaceuticals inc. It took me a
month aproximately, I only put one dose, changed the water after a week and
waited, the fungus completely disapeared. I have curently an aquarium with 3
german Rams and 2 wild rams.
