>It seems too easy. Any comments? It is this easy. Aquarists have been doing this for years. Problems are variable results, and just the mess. You could always try the original "water softening pillow" too. Put a rock in a pantyhose leg, fill it with peat, tie it off and throw in the tank for a few weeks. Activated charcoal removes the color, but quickly ruins the charcoal. So plan to change it soon after the first pass. - -Doug Brown debrown@kodak.com
