Kathy already mentioned corner box filters and canisters, as well as PJ's exploding substrate. You could also use it in Aquaclear power filters by putting it into an old carbon bag in place of the carbon. I recently got to look at a Marineland hang-on-back power filter that had a little refillable compartment normally used for carbon that could equally-well hold peat.. that actually looked slicker than any of the other stuff I've seen.
